The International Council of Museums (ICOM) is an international organisation representing museums and museum professionals.

Since 1946, ICOM assists members of the museum community in their mission to preserve, conserve and share cultural heritage. The fight against illicit trafficking in cultural goods is one of ICOM’s priorities. In this light ICOM has developed so-called Red Lists for cultural heritage in certain states or regions at risk and an International Observatory on Illicit Trade in Cultural Goods.
